I have a cylindrical geometry with multiple diameter reductions and then a plate array at the end. The plates have orifices with a few diameter changes. I am trying to create a mostly hex mesh with mesh resolution decreasing with each diameter reduction of the tube. For example, 4.5 mm for the large diameter, 3 mm for the middle diameter, 1 mm for the smallest diameter end section. The geometry is a quarter cylinder for symmetry.
I am not sure how to do this, I have not been able to get a hex mesh for any of the sections. I get the ‘cant find 8 corners of a block by 2d mesh’ error after partitioning the ends of the cylinder with an o-grid style sketch, shown below. I tried a few different variations of this sketch and returned the same error. That is for the sections that are just quarter-cylinders without the plate arrays. For the end section with the plate arrays I am not sure where to start to get a mostly hex mesh. I have seen 3D Extrusion used for a similar geometry but since my orifices are not constant diameter I am not sure how this would work.
Any advice for a structured hex mesh for this geometry is appreciated.
