IF i go to help in salome i got: My version is version 9.10.0 : 2017-2023 Maximilien siavelis, simulease: code_aster and AsterStudy portage on windows.
This is my first time here , and my first Post thanks comunity for your support.
I have a couple of question, probably the answers are in somewhere here but I am not very good find the answers. I have been trying without sucess.
My questions are:
Is salome diferent to salome-meca?
According to my version I have salome-meca, how can i know this?
If I do not have it, how can I get it (link)
I have seen in some videos you can choose from a dropdown list it says :
a) salome
aster study
shaper
geometry
.
.
.
but in other videos appear:
b) salome-meca
aster study
shaper
geometry
In my case apperas option a) , means I do not have salome meca?
5- I am not very clear with the diference between OPENFOAM VS SALOME-MECA OR SALOME
6- Can they work together’ for some specific simulations?
I need to work with FSI (FLUIS STRUCTURE INTERACTION) ,
I have a pipe with initial velociy, flow, temperature, pipe lenght, pipe material, turbulent flow, pipe roughness. and I want to know , the pipe vibration frecuency depending of the speed of flow or the flow rate and in which point if I start to change the velociy of the fluid or the flow rate in which moment I will have a resonance.
Yes SALOME is different from Salome_Meca.
Basically Salome_Meca is SALOME plus additional modules and the Code_Aster solver.
If you don’t need the Code_Aster mechanical solver, SALOME may be enough for you.
9.10 looks like a SALOME version (we are currently releasing 9.14).
Otherwise, the version of SALOME used by Salome_Meca should be given in the Release Notes or you can check in menu Help > About, by looking of the version of main modules (KERNEL, GUI…).
The dropdown you are talking about is to select the module you want to use (you can also use the corresponding icons in the toolbar).
in b) they may have added a module named salome-meca in newer version.
OPENFOAM is not part of SALOME
But yes they can work together
In your case you can use SALOME to create a geometry and to mesh it, and then export it in a format that can be used by OPENFOAM.
Wow TYVM,
I just create a startup , And I decide to use this software to start my own bussines, ( I do not have my first client yet) , I am pretty Happy to start learning this software, I I hope to learn more I this forum.
About 1° and 2° answers, I thought I had downloaded salome-meca all included in the download (https://www.salome-platform.org/?page_id=2430) , said this , how could I get the both at the same time? or I have to download separately? Please I would like to have both I don not know how.
About 7° answer, my interface shows me “aster study” option, it does mean I have aster code right? I see that in this option I can define boundaries, forces, etc…
1&2. Yes Salome_Meca includes SALOME and Code_Aster.
Aster_Study is the module that will help you to create a Code_Aster study.
You can run Code_Aster from it and see the results in ParaViS module.
If you have questions regarding Salome_Meca (Aster_Study, Code_Aster…) please asks them in the dedicated forum: Code_Aster
If you have questions regarding main modules of SALOME (geometry, mesh or visualization) you are welcome here
