Greetings
I have been using “Geometry”, but not “Shaper”
I have been constructing complicated assemblies, composed of hundreds of solid parts. Say, like an engine. I am using ``addToStudyInFather’’ to logically organize the parts of the assembly in the GUI, but when I wish to export the entire assembly as a single STEP file, my only choice is to first build a compound object with all the individual parts, and export that. However, upon reading back in this single STEP file, one gets a single object, and does not have access to each individual part any more. I would like to send the assembly to a colleague that uses SoildWorks, so now I am forced to export each part, one by one, as a STEP file, and send to my colleague a folder with many individual files.
(a) How can I make a parent + child'' structure in SALOME
geometry’’ ? (not just in the GUI?). That is, how can I assemble a number of solids, or elements in general, into a larger group, and still have access to the individual parts? For example, a top “engine” group, that expands to “compressor-stage” and “combustion-chamber”, and “compressor-stage” expands to “blade assembly”, and “blade assembly” is composed of individual blades that I can display or not individually?
(b) How can I export this structure such that SolidWorks also receives ``3D assembly’’ information?
Thank you so much for SALOME – a truly wonderful tool !!
